Friday the 13th, lucky for some…

Today is the official launch of bluHorseShoe.net although I’ve been testing the concept for a couple of weeks now. Last week, I was very busy but intend to post at least a few tweets everyday in the form of “bluHorseShoe loves… something cool on the web”, substituting “something cool on the web” for a website that I love.

Please feel free to tell me about your own website or some cool website that you have found and if I love it, I’ll tell everyone I know… It probably won’t send it’s share price through the roof just yet, especially in the current climate, but hey you never know…

And as my dear departed Grandmother used to say:

“Love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe”

Blue HorseShoe Loves Anacot Steel

The inspiration for bluHorseShoe.net – from the movie Wall Street (1987)

Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) plays an ambitious young stock broker who through his perseverance manages to get to work for Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). Gekko, who is famous for the quote “Greed is good”, engages in all sorts of insider trading and market manipulation to earn his vast fortune. The key scene (about 40 minutes into the film) is where Gekko, having acquired lots of stock in Anacot Steel, tells Fox to ring extension 1605 in the Washington Chronicle and “Tell the man, Blue Horseshoe loves Anacot Steel”. This is the cue to “the man” to let his extensive network know that Anacot Steel is in play. People start to buy shares in Anacot Steel and let all their associates know, who then buy shares themselves. The share price goes through the roof and Gekko makes a huge profit when he sells the shares he has acquired.
